After much serious debate and consultation throughout 2021, Professor Debby Hutchins (Philosophy, South Texas College) and Bryan H. Smith (Political Science, South Texas College) settled on a design. "We wanted something like the Stanley Cup, something that could be treasured and coveted for years to come."
Tony Mahoney, a local carpenter (and brew master extraordinaire) was approached in early 2022. Mr. Mahoney easily accepted the work, donating his time and talents to producing what is now a local treasure. The final product was revealed to much delight during the 2022 festival.
Will'n in Weslaco would like to thank both Dr. Debby Hutchins and Tony Mahoney for all they have contributed to make this and other parts of our annual Shakespeare festival a happy and successful celebration of community and camaraderie.
